The top would be carved, not necessarily by hand but apparently a solid carved top and back per images.
Machine carved = shaped by cnc then sanded, else carved by hand then sanded.

I contacted D' Angelico and they said they had not made a mandolin in a long time and check the used market. I suspect this batch of mandolins didn't make it onto the official books. I PM'd hillin to see where he bought it and haven't heard back. It didn't look like he was a regular poster.
Any chance we can find the guitar shop or the guy who knows how to contact them? I'd love one of these for fun.
