Furthering Mandolin Consciousness
Finders Keepers, my duo with the astoundingly talented and versatile Patti Rothberg. Our EP is finally done, and available! PM me, while they last!
chanson style is wonderful played on mandolin, especially solo if you are singing (therefore a duet so to speak).just be prepared to spend a great deal of time arranging and practicing your arrangement (yes, you will need to create your own) to make it work smoothly. I often think of harpsichord or fender rhoades in terms of desired sound. slightly lighter (and more plucked string) than piano or accordion. these songs will make you happy, add some interest to your repertoire, and remind you of the joy of playing mandolin.

I love that accordion style and got a wonderful impromptu performance when I stumbled into the shop of Danielle Pauli in Paris. She and her husband sold accordions and French wines and spirits in their shop. She played a rousing set of tunes to thoroughly amaze my ex and myself. And the 40 yr old Armagnac was equally wonderful.

Has anybody mentioned Sheri Mignano's fantastic contributions to this site yet?
Her user handle is Mandophile.
I can recommend her pdf books , in your case particularly "French Soiree" which is full of "musette" tunes, many of which will sound familiar even if you didn't remember the French title and very suitable for mandolin. Her main focus has been Italian tune though.
The link to her publishing site is here:

I don't see any direct download links on the site. I think I emailed her to buy the pdf of French Soiree which I printed and bound at home with a simple comb binder.
That was 6 years ago and I've never stopped playing tunes from it.

Of course "l'Indifference" is in Sheri's book and somebody has already posted a mandolin version, but it would be a shame if anyone missed Carlo Aonzo's version:
