Default Any one have info on this? Ensenada mandolin

I picked up an Ensenada mandolin flat back, with zero fret, at an estate sale. It does not have a heel connecting it to the body. There is a plate on the back that I unscrewed. In there are four screws to adjust the head stock up or down. I don't think the fret board is in any way connected to the body. Made in Japan, marketed by Strum and Drum in the seventy's. The top of the body is cut around the head stock. Looks like a professional job. Thanks

Haven't been able to load photos, but model is AM601. It looks like most f hole A type mandolins, except the fretboard is attatched to the body unlike anything I have seen. There is not ay thing on line about this model.

Sounds like you have a "bolt-on" or "screw-on" neck attachment. The neck and fretboard not glued to the body, but attached with wood screws. Makes the neck angle adjustable, but it's (IMHO) a much inferior construction than the dovetail or other wood-to-wood glue joints.

Might not hold up under string tension as a conventional neck attachment, but again, it might. Good luck.

Thanks Allen, that's exactly what I have. Haven't found any info on this type of setup.
