Sounds like you have a "bolt-on" or "screw-on" neck attachment. The neck and fretboard not glued to the body, but attached with wood screws. Makes the neck angle adjustable, but it's (IMHO) a much inferior construction than the dovetail or other wood-to-wood glue joints.
Might not hold up under string tension as a conventional neck attachment, but again, it might. Good luck.
