Default Big Muddy v Flatiron v. Sawchyn Mandola?

As I noted in another post, I am looking to get a flat top mandola but they are quite hard to find.

I've just heard some youtube videos of Big Muddy Mandolas and they sound great. They also seem to be easier to find.

Anybody ever compare them to the more infrequently available Flatiron or Sawchyn Mandolas?

    Thanks.

I've not played a Sawchyn but have owned the other two. Quite a difference between them, actually. Personally I prefer the FI.

Thanks, Randall. The Flatirons are great. I've played a Flatiron Octave and A Flatiron mandolin. Their mandolas are very hard to find!

I hve owned and played all three. And all three have attributes that I like! However, if I were getting jone right now, I would vote for a Big Muddy, wide nut and radiused fret board. I have had one of these and I REALLY liked it! But they are all very good mandolas, in my opinion. I like flat top mandolins. Blessings, J.C., Bryant

I have a 1999 Mid Missouri mandola M-15 that I like very much.
Here is a sound sample of it being played by someone way more proficient than my newbie self
I paid about $500 for it, including some needed repairs.
