Default New bridge and/or pickup recommendations

    Hi all,

My main mando is a Gibson F9 that I've had for over a decade. It's been gigged with extensively, usually into a DI (often my LR Baggs Venue DI). The pickup/bridge I've been using is a Fishman M-200...in fact, I've been using it so long, I can't seem to find the original bridge my mando came with. Which is a shame, because the Fishman has been tilting forward for some time, perhaps contributing to some of the string slippage and tuning issues I've been experiencing with the instrument.

I'd like to replace the bridge. Seems like a lot of folks don't care for the M-200 on here, but I always got along fine with it, playing in a folk-rock setting. I guess I'd be fine just replacing it with a new M-200, but I'm a bit soured on the unit what with the tilting issue.

I'd be fine with going another route as far as the pickup goes, but would need to get a new bridge if the pickup doesn't include one. Any advice would be most appreciated!

Will burping your bridge get it right?

Question Re: New bridge and/or pickup recommendations

It's older now, my Schertler Dyn M is a contact microphone, so no DI needed to use a mixer channel that is for Microphones.
They have an XLR Plug. (microphone cable extension)

the installed version is a TRS 1/4" jack in my Mix A5.. Peter Mix Bought Bridges from Steve Smith,

Cumberland Acoustics gets thumbs up revues here on this forum.

Piezo types are cheaper which improves their popularity,
People then buy a high impedance handshaking input matched preamp to complete the package .

Often from a company that also makes the pickups.

Most movable bridges will move or tip from tuning over time. As J Mangio says pull it back to straight, you may not need a new bridge. This is fairly common.

Lot of people who know more than I ever will steered me to Cumberland Acoustics bridges and K&K pickups. I like 'em both.

Thanks for the recs, all -- I will check out Cumberland Acoustics!

I'm not interested in having this bridge "burped" again -- it was worked on in August by the folks at the Denver Folklore Center, and a year ago by TR Crandall in NYC, and both shops told me a new bridge would be needed soon because of the tilt. As this problem has become more and more egregious, presumably contributing to other issues I'm having with the mando, I'd rather just swap out the whole bridge at this point. Thanks!
