I can’t answer that question, I’m not selling these programs & have no financial interest, I was merely pointing out that strummachine is not comparable to the programs being discussed, it’s a different animal.

BTW the license fee for Transcribe! Is $39

Questions or complaints about pricing schemes should be taken up directly with the sellers I would think.

dont know if anyone has used one of these, developed with Amy Hayashi Jones and family. they have a plug in version and also wireless. you control the looper, speed, playback, etc with your foot-like an electric pedal, leaving arms free to continue playing without interruption.

Amy Hayashi Jones and her husband are fantastic nylon string players-i've listened to her/them for years. saw this midsummer but haven't picked one up.

    something different.

Mark, my question was not directed at you, I was just tagging onto your post. Sorry if you took offense. I was hoping maybe someone on the board could shed some light on it

I have the Vidami and it works well, it works with a bunch of websites and I would like it to work with Quicktime and Dropbox but I use it on YT alot and it works as advertised.

Amazing Slower Downer does not unfortunately - but you can convert the files https://www.noteburner.com/apple-mus...4p-to-mp3.html

I wouldn't advise getting the mobile version of ASD personally. I got it and it was a really bad experience - hard to load songs and etc. I love the desktop version and use it daily - but the mobile version was such a pain in the butt. Not really worth it IMO (especially since I usually practice with my computer close enough)

Not sure you are talking about the same thing. Rdeane is asking about converting video files to MP3 audio (I think). The tool you mentioned makes copies of Apple music

Maybe I have an older version of it - I can't use the M4P's

I think you are confusing MP4 and M4P. MP4 is a open standard video format. M4P is an Apple proprietary musics format

Thanks. I have decided to just struggle with the Video Frame Player since I need visual slow down more than pitch correction. Just an MP3 file isn't going to help me a much as the MP4 will.

RDeane, just in case you missed it … I answered you in post #21. Transcribe does slow down mp4 with video as well as audio. It uses the QuickTime engine, so you have to do install QT if you don’t already have it.

One of my first uses of Transcribe was to transcribe Hangin’ Dog by Nancy Blake from video. That exercise made me a lifelong believer in Transcribe!

Yes, I did miss that tidbit. I'll check it out. Does it display the MP4 video portion as well? I find watching a slowed-down video really useful in learning fingerstyle pieces. I appreciate the reminder.

Influenced by Amazing Slow Downer - but I wanted it as a web app as well as working on my phone.

You can set loop start and end points (fine tune them) and you can shift the loop forward or backwards to move from phrase to phrase. You can also double the loop length or half it.
Then you can change the tempo to learn at your own pace.

    https://www.looptube.xyz/

I originally built the functionality for my Irish Tunes site https://www.tunesource.net then realised it's useful for many other styles and purposes - hence creating Looptube!
It's pretty new so I'm still improving it and getting it running smoothly.
I tried to use looptube with a video that was about 25min. long and it would only work on the first 5min. or so. Is there a way to get to work with longer videos?

Having trouble with "Enter Youtube ID". Where do you get the ID? I'm trying to insert the entire url, but that's not working. Thx for the help.

I have two chrome browsers. The one I tried originally I couldn't not get it to work even after refreshing the browser. The second chrome browser worked fine the first time. So it must be a cache issue with the first browser.

That's interesting as I only use the mobile version, which is considerably cheaper than the desktop version. I use it with my Apple Music subscription and it works great for what I need it for: slowing down and transcribing tunes and mandolin breaks. Unfortunately, though, now you have to have purchased or downloaded the music you want to use from Apple Music with ASD. That was just a recent development.

FUN FACT! You don't need another program!

Just RIP YOUR cd track to your hard drive. Once it is a FILE, you can play it back on your "media player" at whatever tempo (from 50% - 200%) that you want.

A file has no "moving parts", so you can slow it down or speed it up, just as if it was a MIDI. Your CD must spin to be read, so you can't change the tempo.

Try it, playing any soundfile on your PC!
Right click on your (Windows) Media player. Drop-down will appear > click on enhancements > click on Speed settings > set speed slider on player

ooohhh .....Tape deck...the ultimate in modern technology, if you don't count the almighty 8-track!
CD player in the car sure beats the old cassette deck.

If all your music is already digital files... why do you need a Slow Down software?

I use soundslice.com. It allows you to plug in a YouTube video or MP3, slow it down, sync it to the notation, and even tweak the pitch if necessary. It's an all-in-one tool and it makes the transcription process very quick and easy. Seems not many folks use it, and I'm not sure why. All my transcriptions are on there for free if anyone's interested (mandolin and guitar).
