    Default Open D Tuning

Just curious. Has anyone tried open D tuning on a tenor guitar. D f# A D on the open strings.

Mr. Harris: I assume you are switching out strings? what tenor are you using? With the scale length and size of the instrument, I have always assumed most tenors would do better in open "G". I have an old guitar that I have in open "D" (only the four middle strings tuned ADF#A) and the 25-ish inch scale seems to allow it to resonate better than a 23 or shorter scale, but that may also be a matter of the size of the body. Hope it works out for you!

Yes, I tried. It was an improvisation on a D tuning baritone ukulele. Tuning exactly the same you asked. D F# A D
