    Default 2021/2022 Forster mandolin batch

The 2021 mandolin crop has taken a long time to harvest, but they're beginning to see come through. Sometimes I think it would be handy to have some help around here...

One snag I hit was last year, the mandola cases I used to use for the extra large Celtic mandolins I make, changed. They no longer fitted. So I had to look for alternatives. They came in the shape of a heavy duty rifle case with custom water jet cut foam.

The foam looks nice but I still prefer the look of "teddy bear hide," so Mrs Forster has been very kind and spent some time stitching teddy bear pelts together -

Do you have to fill out a CITES form on those or have difficulties in customs?

Remove the rifle, shoot the teddy-bears, re-furnish the case, sell the rifle - jobs a good’un; as we say in these parts.

Where there's a will there's a way, Nigel. Looks great.

My colleagues and I think the use of Teddy Bear hide is an outrageous abomination. It’s led to the loss of wild teddy bears in many environments. You’ll be hearing from the SPTB.

Faux hides are available. Everybody knows that.

It's a repeat of the poor nauga's from the 70s. They were hunted to extinction due to popularity of their hydes

Kentucky must have a sustainable source of nauga - their current 'deluxe' gig bags look and feel like they came as an accessory for Starsky and Hutch wheels. I'm just peeved they didn't include an aerosol of genuine naugahide scent.
