Might not be a bad deal if it's been set up, as he claims, and is playable. I kinda like the doodad on the peghead.

Segmented f-holes with comma-shaped end segments -- Kay or possibly Strad-O-Lin?

Strad-O-Lins generally had headstock logos, didn't they?

SOL's had more elongated comma-shaped end segments, I believe. Mike Edgerton would know for sure

SOL's had numerous different names for headstock logos but this one looks like it's been refinished.

The OP said it had been refinished by his luthier, almost certainly the headstock too. The grain implies plywood. My 50s SOL is solid wood, round holes, logo is stencil, and probably the cheapest model, so I’m guessing this one more Kayish. Price may be optimistic, but if playable, why not?

That coin is a 1925. Old in its own right.

It's simply a standard cloud tailpiece with a coin stuck on it.
