Default Telemann: Fantasie a-moll, TWV 40:25, Presto

Here is my version of the piece by which Telemann completes his great composition - “Twelve Fantasias for Violin without Bass, 1735”.

Another little gem, Toomas. Great sound from your mandolin and fine playing. Almost 300 years since those tunes were composed and you keep them alive so well.

Thank you, John! Just a few days ago, I thought it would be good to think myself into the time of 300 years ago and try to imagine Telemann composing this work. Many works, if not most of them, for solo instruments were not meant to be performed but played for oneself. It seems that these violin pieces were especially so. Most of the time, we also play alone, and this music is excellent for that.

If I played that well I would certainly enjoy "playing for oneself."
Telemann does not receive enough attention, probably living in the baroque shadow of Bach, but a more creative and interesting composer than the ever popular Vivaldi.

Although Telemann was very famous during his lifetime, then in the 19th century he was started dismissed as a "polygraph" who composed too many works, and his works were judged as inferior to Bach's and lacking in deep religious feeling. But its popularity has been rising again in recent decades, and I share your opinion that he is more interesting than Vivaldi, although it can also be said that they are just very different.
