Harkening back to the days when giant mandolins roamed the earth, a new mandocello, built to try out some ideas before the start of the mandolin quartet project. This one has a carved European spruce soundboard, Otways blackwood for the body, with a fully carved back with tortoise celluloid binding. 25.5"/65cm scale neck made from Fijian grown mahogany with a Solomons Islands ebony fingerboard, 50mm/2"wide at the nut and joining the body at the 16th fret. Two way truss-rod from Allied Lutherie. The body is 14.5"/36cm wide and 3.75"/95mm deep at the tail. Stringing is .020", .034", .045", .062". Big growling sound and responsive to the touch.
