    Default Guy Clark’s Dublin Blues

This is probably a really easy question, but I pretty new to mandolin and don’t know much in the way of theory. I was trying to play along with Dublin Blues tonight and didn’t have much success. The guitar chords show that he’s playing in drop D tuning and the chord progression is D, G, D, A. When I play those chords on the mandolin they don’t seem to go with the song. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here. The second thing I was wondering is what scale should I be using to try to solo over it. Thanks for the help.

Dublin Blues is in E. Guy played out of D position with a capo on 2.

Well , that certainly explains it, lol. So would you play out of an E pentatonic scale? Thanks

I play it on mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello and guitar. For my vocal range the chord progression is D, G, D, A, D, G for the verse and A, D, A, D, A, D, A, G, D for the chorus.

Don't know why its not working for you.

It just wasn't matching the recording, but now that I know that Guy capos up to E, that shouldn't be a problem
