10 BIGGEST MYTHS about Fiddle Hell Online (April 7-10)

“It’s just for fiddlers!” — We also have workshops for mandolin, guitar, cello, and old-time banjo. The concerts, jams, and quite a few workshops are fine for all instruments, or listeners!

“You have to sign up for individual sessions!” — Go to any sessions you like. You don’t have to choose them in advance. You can come and go in real time, no signup required. After the live event is over and the replay recordings have been posted, you can watch ALL of them, or 3 of them, or 45 of them, or none of them, or 99 of them, or 1 of them 500 times, or 5000 times. No reservations required.

“It’s expensive!” — FHO’s highest ticket price is $160. By comparison, other fully immersive music events cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars, or thousands. We also offer discounts for older & younger players, and scholarships are available. Included are unlimited replays of all 250 sessions for 4 months.

    “It’s only for advanced players!"
    — Concerts are for all. Jam and workshop levels range from beginner to low intermediate to high intermediate to advanced. Stay in your comfort zone, or stretch forward - try new things and have fun! Any session can be played back at any speed (slower!)

“You have to be an internet computer wizard to figure it out!” — Nope. Once you’re in the Whova platform (on your laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone), just find a session you like on the Agenda, view the session, and click to join it or replay it. Our help desk answers the phone during FHO, and we respond to emails and solve your problem with you. Our FAQ can be accessed at https://www.fiddlehell.org/online/q-and-a “It’s only about learning tunes!” — Fiddle Hell is not just about learning tunes, although you’ll get some great ones. It's about technique, history, nuances of style, and jamming skills for playing music with your friends (and bandmates?)

“Jamming doesn’t work on Zoom!” — Fiddle Hell Online has been an innovator in online Zoom jamming since 2020. The jam leader(s) are amazing, you get a front row seat, and no one can hear any mistakes. (Mistakes are just improvised variations, anyway.) We tend toward well-known tunes, and have some easy, slow jams where it’s not hard to learn a tune on the fly (and replays help, too). Fiddle Hell Online features workshops on jamming skills, learning by ear, and as the Reiner Family Band, we released two 52-tune repertoire CDs with common tunes.

“Fiddle Hell Online will disappear forever after the in-person event this November in Massachusetts!” — In 2022, Fiddle Hell Online is April 7-10 and Fiddle Hell Massachusetts is November 3-6. The Massachusetts Fiddle Hell features more jamming in the hallways, while the Online Fiddle Hell lasts for four months. 2022 marks the first of many upcoming years with this April-Online November-Massachusetts pattern.

“Workshops have very mixed levels of attendees!” — We keep workshops and jams focused on just one or two of our 4 levels. Levels are related to technical skills and the pace of the workshop or jam. You can learn more about levels 1-4 at https://fiddlehell.org/info/session-levels and view the schedule at https://fiddlehell.org/schedule to plan your own personal journey into Fiddle Hell.

“It’s too late to sign up for a t-shirt!” — You can order a shirt or hoodie through April 15 - That’s after Fiddle Hell ends.

While REPLAYS last 4 months, our LIVE event is just 7 days away. And nothing is more fun than joining Fiddle Hell Online LIVE as it happens. The time to sign up is NOW! https://fiddlehell.org
