What did you take off in order to put those on?

Ah - that’s why. One of mine came with Waverleys and the other with Alessi so I’ve no reason to change them.
I’d like to have those tuners you took off if you’re not going to use them, lol
Btw they were Gotohs that Mike Compton gave me, came off one of his Gils. I put ebony Waverly buttons on them.
I am glad you are digging it, I REALLY liked that one!
Will, trust me when I tell you my other instruments are incredibly jealous. And they should be.
I have said it many times, the single greatest bluegrass mandolin I have ever played was a Kimble. I have described it as being able to go from sounding like a dentist’s drill to sounding like a hive of bees when played hard, and I mean that as the highest compliment, as that is how I described the engine note of my father’s Ferrari.
I am certain it does. I have played several. They were all excellent to extraordinary. I actually find the nexus between bluegrass and swing/jazz manouche absolutely fascinating. In particular, I love the use of sixth chords in swing. I think that hits a sweet spot in terms of chordal complexity. I often find myself taking the more complicated harmonies of bebop and doing whatever one calls the opposite of chord extensions (chord reductions? I don’t know the technical term for making something less harmonically complex). I also tend to limit extraneous ii-V-I substitutions. The folks I play with are terrified of stacking minor thirds or chord subs. It’s a shame, really. But no, every Kimble I have played would sound great in any context.
Good deal, looks great. If mine hadn't come with Waverlys I'd probably do the same. I have Rubners on a mando and they're excellent as well.
Love the looks of the Rubner tuners. I’d love to have a set for my Collings. Snakewood of course.
I like the looks good, but more important is that they are smooth and hold VERY well.
Are they Rubner RMP? I have a set of those coming on my Girouard A4.
