    Like bell-shaped Washburn guitars and ukes [and they sold, too], and that's only the tip of the iceberg . . .

    Eight-string tenor and concert sized ukuleles -- some call them "taropatches," but the original taropatches were soprano sized -- aren't that uncommon. I play one made by Regal in the 1930's-'40's.

    And as pointed out, if you commission a luthier to build you one, you can get whatever silhouette he/she will agree to make.

    Is it steel string or nylon string? If steel, isn't it a mandola? If nylon, isn't it a nylon string mandola?

    The ad says it is an 8 stringed Tenor Ukulele, tuned in standard GCEA tuning.

    Looking at the close up images provided, they are certainly nylon strings.
