Andrew Collins' 'Love Away the Hate'
I'm loving Andrew's new recording. It's quite different from his other work, (relatively) simpler in approach and quite beautiful. In the music/tab book he writes that for one tune, 'A Pony Named Fox,' he imagined it fitting on Norman Blake's "Original Underground Music" album. I think the whole album has something of a Norman Blake sound to it.
By the way, the tab book is also really good. His introductions are fascinating--both for his approach to composing and his suggestions for how to play the tune (hitting the strings further from the bridge, swinging it more or less, watching the pickstrokes) are useful even if you don't learn the tune. They're still a challenge for me certainly but I'm enjoying trying to play through them.

Re: Andrew Collins' 'Love Away the Hate'
I also love the album! My copy hasn't arrived yet, but I am excited to hear the reference to the Normal Blake album. Andrew's album reminds me quite a bit of the "Original Underground Music"/"Natasha's Waltz" albums.
