Anyone hear from Dave recently? I know he was moving his shop last year.
His website is defunct along with any form of contact I had for him.

Hmmmm. The silence is not a good sign. I hope he's ok.
Maybe...he's not the first one around here to not have the best communication skills!
I contacted Dave in mid February. He’s doing great and has moved to VT. Dave said he likely will not build anymore mandolins as he sold his cnc but likely will build other istruments but right now he is busy building his house.
Since this is a mandolin forum let me gush a bit about my 2016 Smith Creek. #150
It’s nearly flawless Adi toppped, hide glue, oil varnish. I picked it up at Carters Vintage the very moment it hit the internet. My suspicion is that because it was tight sounding when I received it, maybe it’s first owner gave up on it. I could hear something … so now after exactly 6 months of play and badly need truss rod tightening it is beyond my expectations. Never heard midrange tone in a newer mandolin like this. The burst is perfect all over.
I think Dave told me this was the last mandolin he built. Does anyone know for sure if there is a #151 or later?
Id love to meet someone in Indiana with a Derrington era Master Model so we could compare sometime. Maybe I could close that chapter and save money!!
Too bad he sold the CNC, I was a regular customer of his carving service. Anyone else out there offering the same services?
