Default Songs from Ken Burns Benjamin Franklin

Hi. Hi play fiddle tunes. In the new Ken burns film is a song that I think is mostly in part two. I can’t grab enough of it to learn it above the talking. There are lots of songs but this one is beautiful. Seems common but cannot find it no soundtrack yet. Thank you. Nick can you find it?

Usually I would say Jay Unger did the music but in this case I would have been wrong. Not sure what song you ate referencing but maybe this will help

Yes, I read that. I read everything. I even took all the songs mentioned. Looked them up from other players played them but that song I want was not one of them.

Has anyone watched the program yet. It is amazing. Like all ken’s shows. Great music. Remember that is how we got Mallard Island hymn from National Parks. Person mandolin! Look it up

Haven't watched it. Al Pettaway did the music for the National Parks series.

Try Bonnie Rideout's Scottish Fire album. I heard a song from it used somewhere but cannot remember where, and I had no luck with research. There are several "beautiful" ones on there.

Stab in the dark but there is an app, such as Shazam, that will give you the name of the song after listening to it a bit. Hey, the apps free, give it a try. Personally I got Blue River Waltz from the National Parks show.

What a blessing for Bobby Horton to get the gig with the Ken Burns crew. Bobby is that consummate musician who became a lifelong aficionado and collector of period pieces, in the past I’ve mostly been interested in his Civil War era work. He has a huge archive of tunes available for that period.

Jay Ungar and Molly Mason do in fact play on the soundtrack, although Bobby Horton is the bandleader.

"The most beautiful song" on the soundtrack? Of course that's highly subjective. The one that grabs me — it appears in both episodes but is used more heavily in the second — is The Minstrel Boy. Bobby's version is a lot more plaintive and melancholy than what you'll hear below, but that's the tune.
