    Default Mandolin Identification

Can anyone tell me who made this? It has the number 6026 stamped at the end of the head stock.

It is a very attractive restrained looking mandolin in what appears to be good order- probably relatively inexpensive when new. The headstock shape was used by a number of makers- the scooped top edge is more pronounced than is usual. I would reckon it is from the 1890s and may be from the original Regal company but I am far from certain. I have seen that tailpiece before but I am not sure where! I trust somebody can shed some light on it. Here is a 1902 Sears ad and you can see that headstock shape on one of the mandolins. I don't know who made the mandolins (and guitars) for Sears, Roebuck back then- probably, a number of makers including Oscar Schmidt and Harmony to name but two.
