Country Gazette came to town with Roland playing this mandolin back in the day. It's very nice, but with that crooked tailpiece i wouldn't give 5K for it, and i'm not kidding. Speaking of crooked tailpieces, with today's different options out there (Nugget, Hamlett, etc), and using a strap button instead of a violin endpin, there ought to be a lot more straight TP's out there. Those square TP's have to be fitted just right to be straight, and that square shape doesn't go with the mandolin's curves anyhow.

Actually the traditional tapered endpin can be a liability if the mandolin is dropped on it. Just sayin'.
