Trying to identify this vintage one

Hi all - I have not been able to find anything on the internet that remotely matches this mandolin, which is available locally. Given the state of the strings, I can't be too certain how it sounds... I don't see any identifiable markings. I'd be grateful for any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Appears you have a Stromberg-Voisinet Mandolin. If you throw that term into the search box in the upper right-hand corner of the Cafe (or click this link) you'll see lots of examples of those posted over the years. I'll let others hone in on the finer details. Always thought these were kind of cool looking.

Thanks - that's it! Now that I know what to search, lots of info here. Looks like the potential for brittle tuners could be a problem, sooner or later. But the tone in this video posted here: https://jakewildwood.blogspot.com/20...y-2-point.html sounds quite nice. I'll make a low enough offer that the tuners won't be a financial disaster if they blow up. Thanks again, Chip
