These are rare and this one comes minus a mandolin that might be superfluous!

Wow, do you think it's really worth that much?!? That's a fair portion of what I paid for my whole mandolin only 2 years ago.
I feel like this represents mando-inflation and that SOL should be the regular folks' vintage mandolin.

I wonder if this is the same one discussed in this other thread: Junk Late 40s A50- Bonus S-O-L Tailpiece! Final price on that was $361 after 27 bids. Opening bid for this tailpiece/cover is $125.

From time to time there are junk mandolins with good cases or rare parts and that Gibson A-50 was just such an example. Of course, we will never know if this tailpiece is from that sale- the buyer of that Gibson might be unaware of the provenance of the tailpiece. I bought what appeared to be a wrecked early 1920s Regal made Wards Concertone guitar. It had Waverly Fleur de Lys tuners as used by Martin circa 1920 on it- clearly not original and I believe these tuners are now made by Stew Mac again. Anyway, the guitar had been through a "redneck restoration" and I only had to re-glue the bridge and it has really low action and plays well- and despite only being nearly 13 inches wide it sounds great and cost very little. I have removed those tuners and now have some others in their place.

The eBay listing has vanished- nothing in the sold section.
If they removed the auction because they sold it locally it wouldn't show up as sold. I would guess that might be the case. That's why I like to grab pictures for posterity

It was removed because it violated eBay posting guidelines and someone reported it.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned that you got a good deal.
The 1930s Era Faux Tortoiseshell Brown Celluloid Mandolin Tailpiece is back on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/11543945654...mis&media=COPY
I would say it's overpriced... except for this... https://www.ebay.com/itm/16553823620...mis&media=COPY
Well, it has sold for $125!
That was pretty fast, so I guess it settles the value question.

Hense the selling phrase " try to find another".
Other rare finds are the tailpiece covers to Gibson trap door banjos and Lyon and Healy style A mandolins. The L&H tailpiece covers have gone for over hundreds of dollars.
