    Default Happy Birthday Wake Frankfield!

Wishing you a most Happy Birthday Frank... and many more!

One of the most brilliant, creative and "natural" musicians I have ever heard in my life...

Frank showed us all "how the cat got the butter and didn't even grease his lips"

Thanks for posting this, and a Happy Birthday to Frank. I wasn't familiar with him but checked him out on YouTube, and was thoroughly impressed.

If links don't work, search YouTube for "Frank Wakefield / New Camptown Races". The other mandolin player is Mark Hargis.

"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

I first heard Frank's music back in the mid-60s on some of the Greenbriar Boys recordings and have always been a big fan of his. I'm curious if anyone in the Cafe knows whether there are any recordings and/or video of Frank performing along with Vassar Clements?

As the man might say, “ I hope your birthday was dismal and awful.” God bless you Frank!
