The guy finally answered my emails. Drove an hour to meet up with him this afternoon. A no-show.

No wonder he's having trouble selling it!

Wow. Whatever has happened to common courtesy? I feel like the anonymity of the internet makes people feel like they can be jerks with impunity sometimes.

    They're right.

But I have an alternate theory: The guy, who doesn't overall seem to be real bright, assumed I have a smart phone. At 1:00, our meeting time, he emailed me to say he was running late. I didn't answer because instead of being home on my computer I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for him. He assumed I didn't answer because I was blowing him off. So he blew me off.

People don't all take appointments seriously.

    Hi, Bob!

Thanks, but I'm not shopping for a mando. I was only interested in this one because it's can't-say-no cheap and it's close to home.

I do browse the classified here often. In fact, that's where I got my snakehead.

    Beware. Sometimes "Can't-say-no-cheap" means stolen.

Yup. That crossed my mind, of course. But he knew a few things about its history — comments most thieves wouldn't think of making.

But who knows? We're rarely sure of the provenence of any used goods we buy.
