Default Advise for eventual purchase of a Silvertone '50 ties mandolin

Is this : this Silvertone 50ties worth a bid ?
I am looking for a flat mandolin. It does not need to be a Silverstone. This just came across. I was wondering if you see defects or non-original parts on the pictures (there are 7 pictures in the link).

    Thanks

Why buy old junk when you can get a new beautiful looking and sounding in all solid wood for the same money?

That mandolin was built by Kay in Chicago for Sears Roebuck. Silvertone was their brand name. The tuner buttons are shrunk as Kluson bought a bunch of buttons and used them for years that were made from a bad batch of plastic that shrinks and eventually disintegrates. The neck joints on these are pretty prone to failure. It would appear that parts are original but I would never pay $407.47 (USD) for that mandolin.

Photo #2 may show a neck heel that’s opening up. Maybe these are infrequent in Europe, but they’re extremely plentiful here, and unless someone wanted that case (there are case collectors!) or the plastic pickguard, the remainder is almost worthless in most respects.

Thanks a lot for the advises. I will not respond to the auction and look for something new.
