Tunes in "F"

David Benedict's Mandolin Monday tune today is in Bb, if you missed it.

My main gig has for many years been a big band playing swing charts, usually in flat keys. A lot of the "newer" charts are in sharp keys and most of us horn players are accustomed enough that we don't freak out anymore when we see a bunch of sharps.

Curtis Buckhannon taught me a bluegrass-y version of "Go Tell It On the Mountain" in F. That key presents opportunities for double stops all over that tune. I generally play it at church around Christmastime.

FWIW, many of the standard repertoire tunes we play at church are in F.
