    Slight regional deviation ... listening to all this great stuff reminds me of when I first moved to Barcelona. I got turned on to an iconoclastic group called Kalakau, who, along with hurdy-gurdy maestro Marc Egea, incorporated the gralla, a clarinet family instrument used in traditional dances, into their fusiony Mediterranean music:

    I lost touch with Marc over the years, but he was doing some wild stuff with his hurdy-gurdys - MIDI controllers, aluminum frame instruments, etc.

    Thank you. Some very nice tunes. My wife is from Aveize which is at the edge of the massif. When we visit family we try to get to some of the villages were this music is commonly found. I wish I knew more about it.

    The ten day Aurillac Street Festival is amazing. Everything possible is in the street. It’s mostly free, though they like you to participate.
