I've never seen a post on these. I know his archtops are endorsed by Bill Frisell but have not heard anything regarding his mandos. The website shows more of a modern looking instrument. He says he's playing with the idea of going in a different direction than the standard F-5. Anyone played one?

I haven't played one but I think you meant Andersen. There is the maker, G.N.Anderson of Va. I do know that Andersen's sell for more $$ than Anderson.

There was an '82 Andersen F-5 for sale at Merlefest. Very nice mandolin. At $6K, a little pricey for me for a used lacquar mandolin. Sounded/played very well.

Steven Andersen was at one of the Long Island guitar shows a bunch of years ago. I was disappointed that he didn;t bring any mandolins. He figured no one would be interested.

Steve Andersen retired from lutherie this spring and was selling materials and shop equipment on the Seattle Craigslist.
In a trade I recently acquired a 4-string Andersen oval-hole jazz mandola — possibly the only one he made? Serial no. 170, 1994. Loud as all heck, even with just 4 strings. I think it's a keeper, along with my Andersen mandocello.
