    Default Epiphone MM40-L precedent

Just wondering, I have this mandolin, I love it - I know there’s a bit of dislike. It works for me - but what is it based off?

I can find f-styles with oval holes, but they have the wrong head stock. Those with a snakehead headstock are A-styles.

What am I missing? Or is this more of a hybrid?

    Thanks in advance.

As you say, a bit of a hybrid. Body - Gibson, Scroll - Epiphone MM-40L, Headstock - Almost Collings but a mirror image.

Thanks Ray (T). As I said I was just curious. I’ve had it about 7 years and it’s gotten better with age.

    Again. Much appreciated.

That is what I'd call a hybrid. if it is all solid wood, it will get better with age and playing. Oval holes are more forgiving that F IMHO and every now and then the CNC cut is just right for the wood to yield a better than expected sound.
