    Default Tailpiece detail

Here’s an (unknown) one with an extra hook below. Intended as a strap anchor or what?

I have many old mandolins with that endpiece, mostly German but my waldzither has a different one and it's made for 9 strings(Böhm). I am guessing it's for a strap.

I have another type with built in strap hook as well.

My poor eyes failed me (not for the first time) - I never even saw the lower hook. And I swear I counted nine hooks up top. But this morning I can say "was blind but now I see". Yeah, I think it is for a strap, too.
