Default Song Breakdown for Chinquapin Hunting - Bluegrass Version

    Hey all,

I wrote up a song breakdown for Chinquapin Hunting - the bluegrass version as we've decided from another thread. You can see the full post here - https://mattcbruno.com/2022/07/song-...ing-bluegrass/

I've provided 3 tab variations on the melody - a "basic", a "low", and a "high" along with multiple chord voicing options as well.

I'm going to do the Old Time version (the crooked dance one) in the future. Hopefully next week, but I'm traveling a bunch right now so I'm not 100%

Nice job. I've played more fiddle than mandolin over the years and I've loved this tune for its special atmosphere. Glad to see you spreading the wealth.

Yeah it's a fun one. I'm pretty excited to do the Old Time version soon too. Great tunes

What's your favorite fiddle recording of the Bluegrass version?

Chinqui Pin Hunting! In this version it sounds like they go to a minor chord in the B Part. I'm guessing Em or Bm maybe??.. I think I also prefer the Gmaj7 there. Not sure why but I'm having trouble opening the spotify links you shared. It's probably on my end.

Thanks for the breakdown Matt! Great Job!

Yeah that does sound like a minor move which is interesting. While I like the variation, I'm sticking with the major 7th though - I love the openness of that chord in this song!

Glad you like em I'll check out the spotify links. Hopefully they are just broken on my side.

Old thread I know but recently been messing around with the tune on my acoustic. I'm liking occasionally playing an Asus2 chord in A Part xO22OO
