Default NMD - Northfield Big Mon

My mandolin from Avenue Guitars arrived today!

I play guitar, but this will be an entirely new journey. It's beautiful, and although I have nothing to compare it to, I believe it will sound very nice when I learn to play it.

Here are a few pictures, even if they are sideways.

Oh yeah, should have bought a strap!

Those are great mandolins and that one sure looks nice too! Did you get an adirondack or engleman spruce top on it?

That looks very nice, the binding is beautiful but subdued. I've always wanted to play one of those, I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Lots of good straps out there, I like Lakota Leathers. They are beautiful, hold up well, and the business helps support the tribe.

I used to follow a Usenet woodworking group, and whenever someone would get a new table saw or the like, everyone else would jokingly say "you suck!" Seems appropriate here.

Very nice. A friend's Big Mon is what first got me interested in Northfield. Really nice instruments. And love the sunburst on that one.

Another vote for Lakota Leathers. Although the Northfield strap by Harrison is very nicely made also. Just too short for me.

Beautiful. Pulling that out of the case and playing it every day should be irresistible! (I'd like to request a green, "envy" face be added to the smiley options!)

And, another happy Lakota strap(s) owner.

    Wow, congrats its a beaut!

My NF has an Engelmann top and spruce one piece back. I love it, it’s the older F5M model they made for me in 2014 and it’s loud and sounds great.

The Lakota straps are nice amd I have several, the flat strap from Northfield is really nice and it has the NF logo.

That’s truly a beautiful mandolin! I have a Ratliff Country Boy without binding and I love the look of it. I never before gave any thought to tortoiseshell binding but yours has me considering it in a new light.

And being a Northfield it’ll sound great and play well. Enjoy it daily!

    those sides are gorgeous!
I recommend the straps Northfield sells or you can go to Harrison Straps on Facebook. He makes them for NF and will do custom names if you'd like that sort of thing. Great straps.

Congrats! I’ve had my Engleman Big Mon since last December, and it’s been wonderful from the first time I played it. I put a JJB pickup in it, and plan no further mods.
