Default Replacement tuner for The Loar LM 310 F

    Hello everyone!
Today I went to restring my mandolin after a few months of being too busy to play, and found that I've stripped the worm gear on my first G string.

I'm looking for any advice on the repairs I'll need to do. Can I replace just the stripped part, or will the whole section of four tuners need to be swapped out? What are good tuners in the lower price range? Any pitfalls I should avoid?

    Thanks for your help!

I enjoy walking barefoot and playing my mandolin, and if I can do both at once, you'd be hard pressed to find a happier soul.

No advice? I guess I'll figure it out from the web.

It will probably be necessary to replace the whole strip of tuners.
If yours have a brand stamp, contact the manufacturer. There's an outside chance that they will cover a replacement under warranty.
For a new set, your choices at the lower end are Grover and Gotoh. I have no opinion on what brand would be the better choice.
