Just came upon a great Ricky Skaggs concert video from his early Kentucky Thunder days (1996). Does anyone know what mando he's playing? I'da guessed an Ellis, given his association with Buck White, but the headstock inlay doesn't look right to me. Or maybe it does...

It's an earlier Ellis F Style. The inlay style and script changed when Tom Ellis began making mandolins again a few years ago.

Wow! That might be the most striking mandolin I've seen. I think the headstock actually says "Barry's Dream Mando" in Gaelic.
