I wish I could make this thread under happier circumstances, but here we are.

My 2012 Weber Special Edition arrived today from The Mandolin Store. I had my ears perked up all day for the truck, so I could sign for it. And when it finally did, I unpacked it and was met with a very unfortunate headstock break. The box, nor case, had any signs of impact damage from shipping.

I called up TMS immediately upon my horrifying discovery and had a somber conversation. They were fantastic and immediately emailed me a return label and discussed the subject with me a while. They seemed even more beat up about it than I was.

I wish all the best to the folks over at TMS, and leave you with a tale of caution. Even in a nice case and adequate packaging, UPS takes no prisoners.

If only the neck was supported when packing and not the heavy head, a flat drop from height can break the neck/head, without any signs on the outside box.

Was it shipped in the case? It happens often also with guitars in the case without head support

We all feel the same way about this. You know we are heartbroken too. However I could not think of a better place to share this story and gain some encouragement.

A sad tale ... must be pretty frustrating, disappointing today, Falconer. I hope for a happy ending soon!

Very sorry to see that. Have dealt with The Mandolin Store multiple times and always had great service. Am sure they will make this right.

Sorry to see that happened. I recently repaired a cracked top from the same shipping situation.
I think if they see something designated as “Fragile”, that means throw it harder.
