    This is a very early example, with a neck profile that is very much like that of an oval hole Gibson. I've only seen one or two others like it.
    Note that the heel shape is also rather similar to a Gibson oval hole. Only the very earliest carved L & H's had necks like this. Note the low serial number [67].

    I like it. A lot. But it's not in the budget now.

    Shortly after this mandolin was made, L & H moved to a slimmer neck profile and a heel shape that resembles the end of a broomstick sawed in half.

    I owned a slightly later style B, still with the long scale but with the more "standard" neck for many years. It was a great instrument, and mic'd better than possibly any other mandolin I ever came across.

    I hope this one finds a very happy home.
