    Default Second Breakfast

A fiddle tune with mandolin and guitar rather than fiddle, in the vaguely Celtic-somewhat oldtime genre.

This started as a tune called After Breakfast (which is when I wrote it), which has a link in the "Original mandolin tunes" thread in the General section.

I sped it up a little, added some guitar, revised the melody and chords somewhat, and renamed it.

I'm not getting the link, Dave.
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

I like it. Makes me think of the mandolin part in Spinal Tap (Stonehenge) and the line in The Lord of the Rings... "He doesn't know about second breakfast?"

What are you using to record? Software, audio interface, mics?
    Eastman MD315 Mandolin

Got it now. I enjoyed that.

Second breakfast has some currency beyond the LOTR films: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_breakfast

As for recording: Flatiron A5 Jr and Gibson A0 mandolins, Taylor 414 guitar. AKG P 170 for the mandos, Blue Spark for the guitar, into a Zoom R8. Mixing and editing in Cubase. EQ: mandolins boosted around 400 Hz and cut around 1600 and above 5000 Hz, guitar is cut around 400 Hz and above 5000 Hz, and everything has a major cut below 70 Hz. Reverb added to all tracks, and a little delay on the backing guitar.
