It’s a lovely mandolin. I have always liked those points. It sounds like Sam. Maybe a bit treblyer than hoss?

I didn't know that Clarence had a mandolin, so it was cool getting to hear it. I guess that is the same mandolin that is on the cover of Roland White's Christmas book. I wonder if there are any recordings of Clarence playing it...

Here is Clarence playing mandolin. I am not sure if it is the one in the video above. There is also a Youtube video I watched once, but cannot find now, with Clarence switching from guitar to mandolin for a break in a live show.

There's a good chance that this is the mandolin Clarence played on Gene Parsons' "Kindling" album, cut in 1973.
Clarence played mandolin on 2 songs: Drunkard's Dream and Banjo Dog.

Drunkard's Dream is worth a listen-- it's one of the roughest but sweetest vocal trio recordings you'll ever hear-- the singers are Gene Parsons, Clarence, and Ralph Stanley. The first time I heard it it sent chills up my spine.
