An interesting project Jacob Sharp of the band Mipso filled me in on and I thought it would be great to share and for this community to throw it's support behind. Here's the story:
Visit NC and the state of North Carolina recently commissioned 12 filmmakers to make films telling uniquely North Carolina stories. Jacob's film-making brother Taylor and filmmaking partner Holland Gallagher were chosen to tell this tale of the bet between Jacob and his father that resulted in him getting a mandolin. They went to Emerald Isle for two days this past April with a film crew and relived the memories.
The film is now in a competition and if it wins it will air on national TV and funds will be donated to the non-profit Casting for Hope. We just voted and it's easy, only asking for an email address. You might get on a mailing list but you can always unsubscribe. To vote for the video go to the contest site where all 12 videos are listed and look for Jacob's First Mandolin to cast your vote.
Here's the video in its entirety and if you like it, the band, and particularly the Sharp brothers would appreciate your vote in support. Jacob tells me he started hanging out on the Cafe years ago when he was 13. I hope it does well. It's a wonderful short film and deserves our support.
