    Default RIP Pharoah Sanders

Had a great sound, beautiful tone, and had the coolest Duke/Count/King-style name.

Ah, spelled the last name wrong, sorry, can't change it now (I gigged a lot with Reggie Workman's nephew, saxophonist Michael Saunders – suppose that's where the mistake comes from).

John Coltrane loved gigging and recording with him, so that’s a pretty good reference. Live, just his sound would give me goose bumps.

I'm not much of a "horn" fan , but when Pharoah plays, I listen.

He had a very long career. I first came across him on Coltrane's Live at The Village Vanguard Again, and only last year he got a 5 star review in the Times for his album with Floating Points and The London Symphony Orchestra.

    RIP.
