Thread: Instrument stand for Epiphone Mandobird...

Default Instrument stand for Epiphone Mandobird...

    Hi all...

Has anyone out there had any success in tracking down an A-frame floor stand (or an alternative style/shape) which accommodates an Epiphone Mandobird? I've found that the asymmetrical shape of the Mandobird doesn't work for my current A-frame stand...

Thanks in advance for any help.

How about the Hercules ukulele stand? The instrument hangs at the nut which would seem to handle the body shape issue.

+1 for Hercules. Not the prettiest stand out there, but very functional. I have their 3 instrument guitar stand that holds my Bird just fine.

Aiden, Just an observation, I had one of the Hercules violin stands but it did not work out very well so I sold it. I am not sure if it was the shape of the headstock as compared to a violin headstock but it would not lock down firmly or reliably, at least on my mandolins. Maybe the uke stand is designed a bit different which would be great as it was a nicely built stand. You may want to order from a source with a good return policy just in case.

I also use that same Hercules uke stand for my J.L. Smith electric and couldn't be happier.

It’s the lightness of the instrument, you can super glue a piece of lead to the back of the guitar holder, it’s not visible and helps the device to lock for guitars or tiny Keech banjos.

Question Re: Instrument stand for Epiphone Mandobird...

I'd think the Hercules Uke stand would anticipate a lighter instrument than the guitar ones..

The Hecules wall hangers use the same mechanism and will just about cope with a Fender Mandostrat headstock and the tripple floor-stand will adjust to fit a drednaught guitar, a GBOM and a mandolin at the same time.

Maybe, but it held my mandostrat just fine.

I hang mine on the wall on String Swings when they're not in the case. I do find that the smaller mandolin hooks hold every headstock fine but the larger guitar hooks can be a problem with narrow headstocks like a Mandobird. Anything I put on the ground when I'm not there risks being "claimed" by one of the animals

Tbajks for all the tips... Given the particular need I have (which is simply to have the instrument accessible to hand while I'm alternating between recording sound files and - for example - tabbing out tunes and compiling tune learning videos for my YouTube channel, etc.) and following an offline chat with a mate of mine, I've decided that I can use a "pub prop" attached to a shelf in an open bookcase which I've moved to sit alongside my desk.
