Would've loved to have been there but was riding out the storm on the outer banks of NC.

Thanks for posting the show. Those 3 mandolins really had THE tone (Compton, Price, Duff)...at least on my computer's speakers!

Thanks for posting the concert. Noticed Lauren was playing a Gibson mandolin and not her Buckeye. It Sounded great.

I was not familiar with her or her Buckeye before camp, but in a class of hers I was in (and not paying close attention to this topic!) IIRC she said it came in via her husband from a friend/acquaintance of his. (It may be a loan of sorts - don't know.) She did say that she was having a bit of difficulty adjusting to it from the Buckeye, and the pickguard was causing her problems. Between that class and Saturday's classes/concert the pickguard was removed (I'm guessing maybe by one of the builders/luthiers at the camp). It did sound excellent in her hands in the classroom - she's a great player, and teacher!

Lauren was playing a 23 Loar that a friend of her husband loaned her to play. The luthiers at camp did do some work on it to get it playing better--I saw Paul Duff working on the nut as well as removing the pickguard. When she was talking about it in one class I took, she said the right hand spot it sounded the best was different than her Buckeye. She's a wonderful teacher and player.

One of the highlights of the concert was the twin mando playing of Carl Jones and Mike Compton on "My Father's Footsteps". Incredible. Also the Alan Munde and Aynsley Porchak banjo/fiddle rendition of The Gold Rush. The whole show was one highlight after another.
