I'll play, when I first started to date my wife around summer of 07 "after she ducked me for a year-I may add", she came by for a visit and had one of those cold coffee drinks in the glass bottle, well my Loar Buster F-7 convert was sitting in its case with the lid open, she peeled off the plastic and the metal lid actually popped off from the pressure and pretty much the whole drink blew out and up and straight into my mandolin through the F-holes-the case was untouched! I yelled-go get a towel and I literally turned the mando upside down and the coffee drink was pouring out of my prized possession! My little younger sister couldn't believe I kept her-Now that's true love my friends!

That's a good story, Will. We know you went on to marry your wife, but what happened to the mando?

Oh my! The horror! I hope you rinsed it out right quick! Those coffee drinks have milk or cream in them and if you don't remove that right away there'll be an awful mess. That's something I would never do in ordinary circumstances, but this was an emergency, and the liquid line had already been crossed.

And continuing the line of inquiry ... you kept the wife, but did you keep the mandolin?

I just dried let her dry out after I poured out all I could, I didn't put any water in it and no damage as label and FON# were fine! Oh yeah, I kept that mando "and the women" and still have it as its a freakishly killer Loar buster-I haven't played it in a year or so as I've been mostly playing a few 24 Loar's. I need to dig it out as the pickguard is shot and has a huge hole through it from the dreaded deterioration. It deteriorated over years of me picking it so no gas off that did any finish damage.

OK, that's good ... I was hoping for some kind of happy ending. I'd be real worried about getting dairy products in there that could get really smelly. Though I guess if anyone ever accused you of some cheesy playing, you could come back with, " Well, actually ..."

So it depends. I run a jam session and we serve adult beverages. Whisky for me.

I also practice a lot between sessions, at which time it is coffee. I am a mere machine for turning caffeine into tunes.
