    Default Greetings from London UK

    Hello Everyone,
I’m based in London, UK and new to the mandolin.
I’d really appreciate any information on how to connect to other enthusiasts in the U.K. and abroad. I’m particularly interested in workshops, festivals, clubs, groups, etc. both local or further afield like Europe and beyond.
So far, I’ve only found out about the “Sore Fingers” workshops and a residential summer school in Italy.
Also, what places can you recommend in London to go and jam or just listen to some mandolin music?
    Best regards,
    Darek

There used to be a regular Sunday afternoon session at a rehearsal studio somewhere in London but, for the life of me, I cant remember the organiser’s name. They used to publicise the session on the, now deceased, mandolin.uk site and I think the session might have gone on line during covid. I’ve never been as I live a couple of hundred miles away up in them there hills!

Some of the participants are likely to be on the cafe so keep watching.

    Welcome to the forum.

Have a look at The Session - https://thesession.org/ they have a section showing details of sessions all over the place, mainly dealing with Irish Trad.

That’s the one - the one Simon links - they seem to have graduated to their own website.

Another thing is that sessions come and go, especially with covid, but most people are still around so you can try contacting them.
If they are local then they may invite you to other things… and maybe not No harm in trying.

Mate, where in London are you? I’m in the suburbs these days but I might know something depending on where you are.

It’s an interesting website. The sessions are off for the time being; not enough takers, apparently. It’s a shame as I seem to remember wanting to join this friendly bunch a few years ago but a short trip abroad extended into my 6 year absence from the U.K.

    Thank you, Simon.
You’re absolutely right, I need to give it more time, just got back here.
