Yes. The instruments and the mics, and the power mixer, speakers, etc..

insurance is always great while paying premiums. But the real measurement of an insurance company is when you have claim.

Jordan - I’ve been insuring my instruments with Clarion Insurance for over 20 years and never had a claim until last year, when UPS lost my 1922 Gibson F-4 mandolin in transit. You can read about it in this cafe thread, to date it’s never been found.

Bottom line, I sure am glad I have Clarion instrument insurance.

I've had a Heritage policy covering guitars, mandolins, and banjos, for quite a few years and never (knock on wood) had to file a claim. I travel all the time (I write this having arrived in France last night after five weeks in Croatia) and lately that includes bringing along a very valuable mandolin (in Calton case, kept in the overhead compartment of the plane). I had one disagreement with Heritage early on. In reading my policy (I'm a lawyer, I read these things), they initially had a provision that they would only cover an instrument for aircraft related loss or damage if it was in the passenger compartment of the plane - not if it was checked in the hold. You could obtain coverage in the hold, but that required pre-approval from Heritage (which also involved an extra fee each time). In those days I traveled regularly with a guitar in a Calton case. My problem, as I explained to Heritage, was that I always intended to take the instrument in the passenger compartment, but it was really up to the airline, and ultimately the flight crew, as to whether that would be allowed or not. I couldn't really obtain pre-approval if, right before takeoff the crew required the instrument to be put in the hold. After a bit of correspondence (polite and professional), that provision was dropped from my policy. But if you have insurance, it's always worth taking a little time and reading through the terms of coverage and exclusion and asking questions if you don't understand something or are unhappy with a certain aspect of coverage (or lack thereof).

For those in UK and Europe, when I did insure I found Allianz very good and easy to deal with. They at one time specialised in orchestral instruments, now I think they do most things - my son has some Les Pauls insured with them.

I've had one claim with Heritage and it was resolved quickly and easily. Made me thankful for the coverage.

As previously stated, yes, whilst instruments remain in the home, but limited only to that. If you accept remuneration of any sort (tips, a meal), forget about protection with homeowner's insurance

Yes I have heard this from others. Heritage has a good reputation for being quickly and effectively responsive.
