I wonder if there is paperwork to back it up.

Just guessing bidder's interest on this item should be several notches below Monroe's trash bin found fingerboard....(that is to say, very little...IMHO)

Now, Monroe's gouged peghead overlay -- that's a quite different story!

    Good luck with that.

But...the story may be true. I've had my hands on some of the original sets of patterns and moulds as well as the D'Aquisto two point set that are in the Metropolitain Museum of Art and the National Music Museum.

There is a reasonably well know story that Jimmy's wife had a garage sale after he died and many items from his workshop were sold off. There is a member here on the 'cafe who owns some of those items and has posted in the distant past. If the owner could offer any thing to back up the story, a better use for them would be as a gift to one of the museums housing the rest of the workshop and use it for a hefty tax write off.

That said, if someone wants a janky old undocumented set of useless warped plywood patterns....I have a couple of dozen that Lloyd Loar gave to my great grandmother as a Valentine's day present that you can make unreasonable offers for....

To keep my end of the story honest: Here is a shot of the real deal D'Aquisto I took behind the scenes. A detailed commercial blueprint is in the works as we speak!
