Thread: Two questions about Big Mons....

Default Two questions about Big Mons....

    1) For those of you who have Big Mons with the Airloom Recurve case - does your mandolin fit comfortably in the case with a Tone Guard on or do you need to remove your TG?

    2) Are there better tuners available on the aftermarket that will require significantly less tuning/retuning than the stock tuners that come on it? Or would the difference between the stock tuners and better/more expensive aftermarket tuners be minimal?

    Thanks.

Carefully placing the instrument (wearing its Toneguard) into the case and gently pushing it down has worked just fine when I use the Recurve. When do I use the Recurve? When I need to travel light. Otherwise, the BigMon travels in a Bobelock case, which has plenty of room for the Toneguard.

My Big Mon fits the Recorve case with the Tone Gard but she's usually on the wall or in my hands The tuners seem to keep Miss Maybelle in tune as well as any others so mine are still stock.

The tuners are likely decent as I have not heard many complaints about them on any mandolins from this manufacturer. Whenever "problems with tuners" is mentioned, I always suggest making sure the strings move freely through the nut and saddle slots without any binding.
