Thread: Does anyone know what tailpiece this is?

Default Does anyone know what tailpiece this is?

I'm sorry if I have posted this on the wrong section. I'm also not sure if the picture is attached and will be with it. This is on a Kentucky KM-950. I'm sure it is not original. I was not familiar with it. Does anyone else have one and if they do, can you give me any tips on changing strings? The way it's designed it takes me twice as long to change them because of trying to get the loop on the post and thread the string through.Click image for larger version.

I don't know what it is, but have you considered replacing it with something more traditional, or at least smaller, lighter, easier to use?

Take a plier and make a 90 degree bend in the middle of the loop, connect it to the tailpiece and clamp the string to the fretboard with a capo, while you connect the string to the tuner. One string at a time.

Made by Dominic Orrico. Cast bronze. One of my favorite looking tailpieces. Have always wanted one. Not sure what I'd put it on, but that doesn't stop the want.

It's not original. As someone else mentioned pre-bend the loop. Also, lay the paper or plastic string package under the tailipiece when you slide in the string to keep the string from scratching the top

A lot of folks like the Orrico t/p. You could always sell it and replace with something you like better.
