Default Ronnie Mccoury stuff. Tags, runs, licks?

Ronnie is my fav mando player and I’ve really been trying to learn more from his playing as of late. Definitely been listening to recordings but it would be great to see some examples of his playing written down or shown in a slow mo video! If y’all have anything then please share!

Check out this page, the files are in TEF format, so you'll need the TablEdit program, or the free TEFViewer to see the tab and notation.

Also, Homespun Videos has some bluegrass video lessons taught by Ronnie, you get both video and written music, it's from a much younger Ronnie but worth checking out.

I have the Homespun Video, from the DVD days... it covers a lot of his style. At the time I got it, it was a bit beyond my skill level. I may take it out now and try it again.

Two free transcription books of Ronnie's playing were recently offered by Jake Howard in the forums:

The work by Jake Howard noted above appear to be very accurate transcriptions when compared to the recordings. I have learned several of Ronnie’s solos from this source.

There is actually a third one too! I must've forgotten to post about it here. I'll go ahead and post links to all three. Thanks for spreading the love Mark!

It should be close! It's funny, I looked through one recently and found a few wrong note positions for the tab (not whole phrases, just a few here and there that are probably not how he played it). The notes are correct but I must've messed up where it should be on the fretboard. Oh well, it happens!

Get the Audiostretch app. One can load videos in and slow down/loop sections, it’s a great tool to have in your kit.

Download videos from other sources or just take one on your phone/ipad/whatever and load it in and you’re good to go.
